Headaches (Cervicogenic) / migraine prevention

A headache may appear as a sharp pain, a throbbing sensation or a dull ache. Headaches can develop gradually or suddenly, and may last from less than an hour to several days. It is important to consider getting enough rest and drinking enough fluids as one of the potential causes of headaches.

According to the NHS, more than 10 million people in the UK get headaches regularly, making them one of the most common health complaints. But most aren’t serious and are easily treated.

Treatment normally focuses on the structural elements of the problem by looking at and alleviating tension in the muscles of the neck and shoulders, as well as the bones around the base of the skull and the jaw joint.

Posture is also examined while looking at any imbalances in the body caused by growth, work, illness, injury, or bad habit. Most of these can be modified, if not eradicated.

Headaches that are not cervicogenic in nature might be a lot more serious. It is important you consider seeking medical advice, and or contacting us early.

The sooner we act the better. If we find you are not suitable for treatment – our aim would be to refer you with a letter to your doctor as soon as possible.
